Bio[]

Dancing In The Nude is a bouncy Jazz tune performed by Eddie Buchanan on April 21, 1976. It was previously recorded by actor/singer Martin Mull in 1972; Eddie's version has a different intro and omits the second stanza. On "The Benny Hill Show," it was presented on a set with a desk and sitting area alongside an elevated dancing area around nine feet over the stage and Eddie joined by Claire Lutter, Libby Roberts, Teresa Lucas and Jane Eve, who alternate between overcoats and skimpy bikinis with body glitter. The performance ranks high on fan memories of the show along with Diana Darvey's "Superfragilisticexpialidocious" musical number.

Lyrics[]

Everyone has dreams it seems
From Prime Minister right down to plumber
Come for morning and the light
Who gets to stay? And whose dreams are dumber?
I may be a fool,
But at least, I'm a man.
Last night I was crazy,
So I came up with this plan....

Well, my dreams are sad,
It's a problem that's eternal
So I took a little ad and put it in the Journal
Opportunities for the girls who live in dreams.

And when the girls come by for their auditions
I'm gonna say girls,
This will be your mission
You're to be the stuff in all my dreams.

Here's a little job that you can sleep on, And you won't be fired
Clothes were made to wear
And keep on up until we're tired
And honey, you've been hired

For dancing in the nude
In the bushes and flowers
Just like straight from the showers
Drying off it in the light.
Let's go dancing in the nude
For a couple of hours
Til the heavenly powers
Let us dance nude all night.

Dancing in the nude
In the bushes and flowers
Just like straight from the showers
Drying off it in the light.
Let's go dancing in the nude
For a couple of hours
Til the heavenly powers
Let us dance nude all night....
