Anita Mahadervan is an English actor, dancer and singer best known as the singer of the 80's bands Toto Coelo and Cherry Bombz.
Born Anita Chellamah Mahadervan in 1959 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, Mahadervan started her career as a dancer in Legs & Co., which appeared on the television program "Tops of the Pops" between 1976 and 1981.
In 1982, Mahadervan starred as a dancer in the "Paradise Island" sketch on January 6, 1982 episode of "The Benny Hill Show." She went on to become a member in the girl group, Toto Coelo, with Lacey Bond , Lindsey Danvers, Ros Holness and Sheen Doran. They had a moderate hit with the song, "I Eat Cannibals," reaching the Top 10 of the British single list in 1982. The next year, they released the disc, "Man O 'War," which failed to make the charts. Mahadervan left the group afterward. Through her career, Mahadervan also went by the names Anita Chellemah, Anita Chellamah or Anita Chellamah-Nurse. She went on to star in the movies "Nutcracker" and "The Practical Guide to Divorce," later appearing in episodes of the British TV shows "The Bill" and "One Foot in the Grave."
Today, she mostly appears as a television hostess and as a video jockey on Sky Channel, Music Box and Sky Trax.
